Gashi Necklace w/ Ethiopian Cross (16-52)

This necklace has Red Gashi and Silver Accent beads and an Ethiopian Cross Pendant . It measures approximately 17.25″ in length. Ethiopian Cross measures: 1″ w x 2.25″h

Gashi Beads: In the local language “gashi” means fired. These are West African beads from Ghana. The beads are pressed in moulds, then fired. They are often left with a granular, opaque surface and sometimes polished to acquire a deep, glowing color ranging from green to blue to brown.

Ethiopian Cross: “Meskel” were cast in “Lost Wax” or carved out of old coins. Crosses are named after the different towns in which they are carved in.
