According to legend the garnet is a powerful, energizing and regenerating stone. It revitalizes, purifies and balances energy. It is said to be able to ward off danger and has been carried by some of the earliest travelers as a talisman. Legend also says that Noah suspended these gems in the Ark to help disperse light. These garnets come from Africa and are mined on the border of Kenya and Tanzania.
Garnet is the birthstone for January.
